It is ideal for in the middle of the night, perhaps a more modern solution than the chamber pot. It is well-designed. The edges at the top are a bit rough but this is perhaps only rough to feel with ones fingertips, not while in use. The front and the back of the opening easily cover the whole area needed without spilling. So I am pleased with this
